  • Lisa  Myrtle Beach Winter Run was fun. I won my age group!

    • Pat Macc  at 11:18pm on Feb 02

Congrats, Lisa! I agree, the North Myrtle Beach Winter Run was a well planned, managed, and run race with plenty of assistance and guides on the route. I always enjoy this race.

  • Murray  Would like to do 10 - 13 miles this weekend. Anyone interested?

  • Iggy  I am a slacker and I missed my opportunity to register for the half this year. I have freinds and family members coming to myrtle beach to see me and run the half (they already registered) If anyone can help me get put on a waiting list or knows anyone that is looking to get rid of their registration, please let me know

    • Alison  at 7:42am on Dec 23

I believe you can still register through the Red Cross. You pay $25 to them and race money for the Red Cross. Susan Mungo is in charge of it. Maybe try a search engine for contact information. Hope this helps.

    • Dman7959  at 10:48pm on Jan 11

I am a runner with the Red Cross and I think they have a few spots left. However, it's a $500 donation that you can either pay yourself or raise from others. It all goes to Red Cross disaster relief. Search for Red Cross Rescue Racers. Good Luck!

    • Iggy  at 10:40am on Jan 12

Thank You Alison and Dman7959! Big help

  • HeatherG  Happy Holidays everyone! Has anyone had any trouble registering for the prediction run? When I get to paypal, it is telling me I have to enter an amount greater than ZERO in the payment area...

    • kevin  at 3:21pm on Dec 07

Heather, it's fixed. It won't redirect you to the PayPal site now.

    • HeatherG  at 12:36pm on Dec 12

      Thanks Kevin!

  • Murray  Would like to do 10 miler Sat. or Sun. over Fantasy Harbor Bridge and by Hard Rock Park. Call me if interested 843-997-0549. Prefer Sunday around 8 or 9am, but open to change. Happy TG!!

  • Pauln  the Rivertown Run wasveery impressive. Hopefully it will continue next year.

  • julie  Hey Keith! Hope you enjoy your time in MB. If you ever want help on a long run, let me know. I just finished my 1st marathon on 10/11 so I know all ab the time you're putting in to train! My advice is to make sure you're dilligent with your long runs and icing and stretching properly (I'm sure that's not the first time you've heard that!). I went all the way up to 23miles on my long runs and kicked the marathon's butt! Good luck and again, let me know if you ever want to run!

  • keithruns  Hello everyone. I am the new guy here and possibly the only -real runner- in lower Florence County. I frequent Myrtle Beach, since I often commute in and out of the airport to work. I am struggling somewhat with my long runs and invite input and advice in my preparation for my first marathon.

  • Karen  Hey Terry, I am happy to hear that you are home from the hospital and doing well.

  • julie  Glad to hear you're doing well Terry! I'm planning a 6-8 mile run tonight in Myrtle Beach...just wanted to see if anyone else was up for it! I'd love to have some company!

  • terry  To all my running friends, I came home from the Grand Strand Regional Hospital yesterday Saturday, Oct 24, and am recuperating under the care of my wife, Pat, daughter, Harmony, and granddaughter, Naiya. As part of a routine visit to my family doctor on Friday, Oct 9, it was discovered that a cardiac bypass done 16 years ago had become filled with scar tissue and needed to be re-rooted. This was successfully done Monday, Oct 19, 2009 by Dr Curtis Bryan and his team at Grand Strand Regional. I've already signed up for a cardiac rehab program; following the first bypass 16 years ago, I was able to get in 5 marathons ... let's see how many I can do this time. Thanks for all the flowers, cards and good wishes. See you soon on the road. Terry, 760-709-2574

    • kevin  at 11:35pm on Oct 25

Get well soon Terry. We're thinking about you.

    • Pat Macc  at 10:13pm on Oct 26

Glad you are doing well Terry. We missed you at the races this weekend. We will see you soon! Way to go on doing cardiac rehab!

  • Dave  Thanks to Terry,Karen, Rick, Paula, Tim, Phylis. Pam, Jane, the HS kids and all the others that made todays event a sucess.

    • terry  at 10:35pm on Oct 03

I second Dave's thanks to all the volunteers. We absolutely could not have done the event without your help!

  • Tommy  I got my 1st & 2nd warning for running on the road on Ocean Blvd. I was tod next time I would get a ticket. Then if it happens again I would go to jail. I was told if there is a side walk you have to run on it. If there is no side walk you can run on the road but only with traffic. Does any one know if this is really how the law is written. If so, does any one have bail money?

    • terry  at 9:01pm on Oct 02

Tommy, Please give me a call, 760-709-2574, I'd like to get more info on your traffic warnings. Terry Layton

    • Dman7959  at 8:27pm on Oct 12

I saw your post and was curious too so I did a little research. I hope this link helps. www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c005.htm SECTION 56-5-3160.

    • Pat Macc  at 10:09pm on Oct 13

Well curses. I run Ocean Blvd too and and in the streets. I was hoping the MB police were just bored and were harassing innocent runners. I guess not. I know there are short segments that are the bike path in the street without sidewalks but not very miles.

  • julie  Hey guys! The AIDS Careteam race on November 7th and the Pawleys Island Turtle Strut 5K & 10K are now up and running for online registrations!! Good luck to everyone running Huntington this Saturday, I'll see you there!

  • Dman7959  The Red Cross offers a program for runners of all levels to train for MB Marathon in Feb. It's called Rescue Racers.
